The Old Man of the Dalles

Color postcard with image of the rock formation known as the 'Old Man of the Dalles' in the Dalles area of the St. Croix River. The scene includes the bridge between Taylors Falls and St. Croix Falls, and autumnal colors on the deciduous trees. Printed on verso: "This massic rock formation, an unblemished remnant of the Glacial Age, rises majestically high above the river in the famous Dalles of the St. Croix in the Interstate Park at Taylors Falls, Minnesota and St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, 50 miles from the Twin Cities. The best vantage point is from down stream on the Wisconsin side or from one of the sighseeing launces that ply the river." Printed on verso: Mirro-Krome Card by H. S. Crocker Co., Inc., San Francisco 1, Calif. Date from postmark: Aug 2, 1958; mailed from Taylors Falls, Minn.; purple 3¢ Lady Liberty stamp (Scott 1035). Message: Addressed to Dr. J. C[_]ss, M.D., 1625 Ditmas Ave., B[rook]lyn -18- N.Y. "Greetings from Minnesota. E. Hesse."
