Date from postmark: Jul 3, 1943; mailed from Osceola, Wis; green 1¢ Lady Liberty for Defense stamp. Message: Addressed to Mrs. J. Fischler, 905 Rice St., St. Paul, 3, Minn. "Friday, Dear Mom, We paddled since yesterday morning. We're in Osceola now. I just had a malted milk and a sundae. Last night we slept by a creek of drinking water. Was it ever ice cold. No mosquitoes bothered us during the night. Love, Rita."
