Incomplete, photocopied German-language diaries with partial translations, a notebook, and related papers, 1886-1920, kept by a Plum City, Pierce County, Wisconsin, area farmer primarily concerning agricultural activities, financial matters, and family health.
A Swiss immigrant in 1866, Staehli recorded his activities prior to and while farming near Pittsville, Wood County, 1879-1892, and then while living near Plum City, 1895-1899 and 1904-1911. Linguistically interesting is Staehli's use of conservative spelling and German script and his gradual conversion to using English.

Included are letters which describe agricultural life in the Los Angeles area in 1892, early twentieth-century life in the state of Washington, the Seattle harbor, and the Oregon and Washington Indian wars. There is also material relating to school experiences of the Strahl family, including essays, speeches, and class notes (circa 1845-1858); three land certificates (1854-1855); and reminiscences by Strahl of Pierce County settlers.

Papers of a one-time Maine mill worker and a speaker and writer on behalf of women's rights. A teacher in Prescott, Wisconsin, in 1861, Mrs. Whitaker then farmed with her husband in Point Douglas, Minnesota until 1904. Documenting her personal life and her opinions on women's rights, the collection consists largely of letters from family and friends in Maine, Prescott (Wisconsin), and St. Anthony (Minnesota). Also present is one 1865 letter from William Lloyd Garrison, family memorabilia, and a notebook from her lectures on women's rights.

Mainly legal, business, and political papers of two River Falls, Wis., lawyers, Ferris M. White and his son Kenneth. Correspondence of Ferris White, 1933-1940, concerns his law partnership with his son, chairmanship of the Board of Bar Examiners, participation in the League of Wisconsin Municipalities, service as city attorney of River Falls, and land and stock investments in Canada, Iowa, Texas, and Montana. Many letters and related papers concern his work, 1933-1935, as county attorney for both Pierce and St. Croix counties for the Home Owners' Loan Corporation, an agency to assist home owners enmeshed in debt during the depression. Occasional letters also relate to Ferris White's interest in Democratic politics and state political issues. Among his correspondents were Grover Broadfoot, Edward J. Dempsey, F. Ryan Duffy, and Daniel H. Grady.
Records of Kenneth White include files from his law partnership with John W. Davison, 1941-1946, as well as personal papers of Davison; military correspondence of Kenneth White from his service in World War I and World War II and his membership in the 32nd Division of the Wisconsin National Guard; and political correspondence of Republican White concerning his support for William E. Borah in 1936, his concerns as a legislator (1937-1941) with measures to improve the state college system and support the National Guard. Among White's frequent correspondents were Jim Dan Hill, Merlin Hull, Ralph Immell, Warren P. Knowles, Philip F. La Follette, Oscar Rennebohm, and Alexander Wiley. A few family papers also are in the collection.

Record book containing five sections: (1) List of jury commissioners appointed, showing name, residence, dates of term, and sometimes remarks; arranged by date of appointment; (2) Minutes of jury commissioners' meetings, arranged by date of meeting; (3) Oaths of jury commissioners, arranged chronologically; 4) Lists of petit jurors drawn for each term of Circuit Court, showing name and residence of each juror; and (5) Lists of citizens eligible for jury duty, furnished by jury commissioners, showing each person's name and residence, date name received by commissioners, date person was drawn for jury duty if drawn, term served on jury, and sometimes miscellaneous remarks. Names were drawn from these lists for jury panels, and the lists were revised periodically. Names are listed alphabetically by first letter of surname and thereunder by date list was compiled.
