The National Register of Historic Places was established in 1966 to list sites, structures, and objects worthy of preservation due to their historical status. Collection includes registration forms for the National Register of Historic Places that were completed in an effort to add buildings from Burnett, Pierce, St. Croix, and Polk counties to the National Register. The completed forms include National Park Service form 10-900, FHR-8-300, a letter from the Mayor regarding the Hudson Bathhouse, and a Intensive Survey of a Historical District in St. Croix County..

The collection contains records documenting the Prescott Journal’s operations from 1989 to 2008. Materials include advertisement logs, designs, and financial records, legal documents, employment applications, undated photographs, and fiscal year-end income statements spanning 1990 to 2003.

This collection is composed of 40 notebooks containing the personal research notes of Dr. Shepherd. The notebooks are numbered and mostly chronological. Notes include research projects or experiments, some of which are in collaboration with 3M. The are also two volumes relating to advanced computing regarding telescopes and astronomy.

Materials in this collection consist of school memorabilia from both a student at the Campus School at the River Falls State Teachers College and later the Wisconsin State College at River Falls as a university student.

This series contains student handbooks for the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Handbooks contain information for students such as university policies, calendars, and social events on campus. Early handbooks (1917-1919) were published by the Young Men and Women's Christian Association and include suggestions for avoiding immoral temptations during college life. Special handbooks were compiled for female students offering guidelines regarding appropriate dress on campus, ladylike behavior, and residence hall curfews (1960's).

The Normal Badger was the predecessor to the Student Voice. It was first published in 1895 by the Athletic Club and in 1897 by the Literary Society. In 1899, it was published by the school as a whole. For reasons not clear, it ceased publication until 1907. By 1912, the Badger evolved into the school's annual, the Meletean.

Directories list national and state officers and legislators, court justices and officers, county board members, county officers and certain county employees, and town, village, and city officers and supervisors.
More recent directories also show members of each county board standing committee, and U.S. census population totals for each local unit.
Included are directories for the following years: 1908-1910, 1912-1914, 1916-1920, 1922, 1924-1927, 1929-1980, 1986-1989, 1992-1993, 1996-1998, 2000-2003, 2005-2011, and 2013-2025. Additional directories may have been added since this cataloging.

Myrtle Colbeth was a resident of Roberts, WI. She was born in 1917 and died in 1993.

This collection contains two diaries that detail day-to day entries about her life's activities including school, the weather, and clubs like Ladies Aid. She also records family events, such as when her father goes fishing or on trips.

Design for Diversity was an initiative started by the University of Wisconsin (UW) System in 1988. The goal of the initiative was to increase diversity on the UW campuses across the state. This collection documents the program primarily on the UW-RF campus. There are also some materials though from the UW System that provide good background and information on the program. Additionally, there are some select materials from UW-Eau Claire and UW-Milwaukee which give information about the program on those campuses. The UW-RF materials include annual reports, grants information, planning documents, and other items.

Wisconsin in Scotland International Studies program was first offered in 1986 by the West Central Wisconsin Consortium WCWC. The cooperating universities in the consortium included UW-River Falls, UW-La Crosse, UW-Stout, and UW-Eau Claire. The program offered students a semester or year-long educational experience and cultural immersion. The program is now administered by UW-River Fall and partners with other universities across the United States.

The purpose of the Faculty Handbook is to acquaint faculty with the plan of organization of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, the administrative policies, personnel, practices, and institutional regulations. Updated editions to the Faculty handbook occurred roughly every four years. In 1999, the handbook included the academic staff of the university, leading to the title change, Faculty and Academic Staff Handbook.

The College of Agriculture was established at River Falls as a two-year program in 1912. Since then it has expanded to a five-year program with majors offered by five departments: Agricultural Education; Agricultural Economics; Agricultural Engineering; Animal and Food Science; and Plant and Earth Science. This is an artificial series based mainly around the correspondence of Prof. J.M. May, Director of the Department of Agriculture, 1913-1959. Also included is a 1964 report entitled The School of Agriculture: Its last Ten Years and materials related to Farm Progress Days and the AgriBusiness Tour. The collection also includes photographs.

This series contains correspondence and communications between the River Falls Board of Regents representatives and the school. The bulk of the information deals with budgeting, salaries, curriculum changes, and allocations for physical plant expansion, along with legislative events which affected Board policy. Clarification of Board policies in general and the manner in which it affected River Falls in particular can be found within the correspondence, as well as illustrations of the efforts of River Falls Regents to achieve enactments of favorable Board policies for the school.

This series consists of mainly reports and newsletters detailing the activities of the College of Education. Also included are materials dealing with the education conference sponsored by the college for many years.

The River Falls State Teachers College joined the American Association of Teacher Colleges in 1924. The organization began nationwide accrediting in 1927, and continued in the role until superseded by the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education in 1948. (See UWRF Series 14) The purpose of the American Association of Teachers Colleges was to make more effective the administration of teacher-training institutions and to disseminate information. Included among the materials in the series are a 1929 inspection report of the River Falls State Normal School with related courses; annual reports from the school to the Accrediting Committee, 1930-1949; bulletins and correspondence, including AATC membership lists; and miscellaneous questionnaires including a variety of interesting materials, among them student cost, library and curriculum surveys.

The original collection box 1 is an artificial collection of records, consisting of a brief, early history of the Journalism Department as well as activities of the faculty, promotional material includes posters, brochures, and correspondence related to conferences and events hosted by the journalism department. Photographs are included in this collection. The 2010 additions contain administrative documents for the department, including department and committee meeting minutes, correspondence, academic audits, academic scholarships that include donation letters and correspondence, and award recipients. The annual department banquet files consist of correspondence and planning documents, scholarship award winners, banquet program, and speaker notes. The University Film Society records include correspondence, planning documents for the academic year’s film series, letters to members, member lists, series programs, and some film posters. The 2019 addition is also artificially gathered from the UWRF Vertical File and is in box 3 of this collection. These mainly included Department and Student Newsletters. Also included is a CD of digital images from the 50th-anniversary banquet of the department, donated by Michael Norman.

This is an artificial series created from a number of different sources dealing with physical education at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Items in this series include departmental handbooks; pageants and exercizes used in women's PE (1930's); programs and promotional material (1915- ); fundraising proposals (1994-1996); alumni lists (1952-1986); and female "R" award winners (1975-1980).

Records of the Newman Club of the River Falls campus and records of the North Central Province (NCP) of the National Newman Club Federation (NNCF). The River Falls club records include minutes of meetings (1955-1971), correspondence, and information on club activities and club participation in regional, statewide, and national Newman affairs. Two scrapbooks, 1957-1970, include photographs, newspaper clippings, programs, newsletters, letters, and other materials. The North Central Province included Newman clubs in Upper Michigan and Wisconsin. It was governed by a chairman and vice-chairman for Extension, Internal Affairs, External Affairs, and Financial Affairs; and divided into regions, each headed by a director. Activities documented in the provincial records include regional and provincial conventions, campus visits by various officers, efforts to organize and encourage local clubs, and local club activities. The materials also include correspondence, reports and publications from the NNCF and from other provinces.

This addition includes digital materials highlighting and promoting course offerings and events.

The Minority Services department was established in the mid-1970s, with a directive to assist minority students in adjusting to life on campus. The staff oversaw several student organizations with an emphasis on minority groups. The name of the department varied over the years becoming Multicultural Services Office from 1994-to 2001 housed under Student Affairs. After 2001 was part of the Academic Success Center. The Minority Services Office strives to meet the needs of minority students, assisting them in academic, social, and personal areas. It also assists with special observances of minority cultural events. The office maintains close ties with all student development areas and the counseling center. the office also assists minority student groups in program planning and events.

The Social Science Department, which existed until the academic year 1965/66, was the predecessor of the departments of Economics and Business Administration, Geography, History, Political Science, and Sociology. During the period covered by this series, the chairmen of the department were Drs. Walker D. Wyman (until mid-1962), Charles J. Graham (1962-1963), and Edward N. Peterson (1963-1965/6). When the department was broken up, Dr. Peterson became chairman of the History Department.

This series is a composite, containing files on Dr. Wyman, Graham, Peterson, and James T. King of the History faculty. These materials were received in several accessions; many of the folder headings were created at the time of archival processing. Particularly significant materials are found in the Charles J. Graham correspondence folders. Valuable Materials for institutional history are also found und the heading "Social Science Department/Division," "Faculty Council," and "Graduate Program and Committee." See especially the 11-page report, The Development of the Department of Social Science (December 1964), under the heading "Social Science Department/Division."

This series contains evaluations of student teachers at the River Falls Normal School (predecessor of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls).

The Alpha Gamma Sigma Sorority existed on the UW-RF campus from 1979 to 1989, and later it then became Lambda Delta Phi. The collection consists of activity files, constitutions and bylaws, correspondence, minutes, a pledge book, rush information, photographs, and scrapbooks that detail different activities of the sorority.

The Soviet Seminar consists of studying in the Soviet Union for university credit. The program was begun in 1969. Dr. Stephen Feinstein of the History Department has been an active coordinator with the program. The series includes an information booklet, publicity/promotional materials, photos and a few tapes of seminars.

In 1973, Dean Richard Swensen asked the UWRF Physics Department to design a large sundial to be constructed on the south most wall of the Fine Arts building. Professors Campbell and Shepard undertook the necessary calculations for the design of a Sundial that will be accurate to one minute of time. A local Artist submitted a design, which proved to be too costly, and the sundial was never completed. In 1993, Dean Prochnow proposed reviving the project to commemorate the service of Richard Swenson to the University. Since Dr. Campbell had already retired, the task of reviving the calculations and design fell to Dr. Shepard. In April 1993, he presented a tentative design, which was accepted, and Gene Olson of Elk River, Minnesota took the commission of constructing the sundial.
