This series contains materials related to the University's radio station, WRFW-FM, including items regarding the creation and construction of the station in 1968; programming and operation logs (1968-1971); several issues of "Forecast," the station's monthly program guide; 1973 letter from WRFW station manager Lorin Robinson to the FCC concerning an unspecified correction of FCC violations; a 1970 report to the University administration, "Radio at Wisconsin State University, River Falls," complied by Lorin Robinson; Listenership Survey Results and Explanation, conducted by a Dept. of Journalism public opinion class (1971); transmitter inspection logs (1972-74); two audio library catalogs submitted in 1974 and 1976; and miscellaneous items such as undated broadcast copy and newspaper clippings regarding the station.

The Women’s Recreation Association (WRA) mission was to provide “women students with the opportunity to participate in healthful recreational activities and to promote good sportsmanship and fellowship. In WRA, a woman has an opportunity for service and leadership through diverse activities.” There were numerous team and individual sports that participate in tournaments. To compete, various teams were organized and entered by sororities, residence halls, or other independent groups. Sports included; volleyball, field hockey, basketball, bowling, swimming, gymnastics, badminton, track and field, and tennis. Female faculty advisors, including Emogene Nelson, serving as advisors, instructed the WRA activities. (Information compiled from WRA brochure.)

Wisconsin in Scotland International Studies program was first offered in 1986 by the West Central Wisconsin Consortium WCWC. The cooperating universities in the consortium included UW-River Falls, UW-La Crosse, UW-Stout, and UW-Eau Claire. The program offered students a semester or year-long educational experience and cultural immersion. The program is now administered by UW-River Fall and partners with other universities across the United States.

This collection is arranged alphabetically by sub-series. Contents include, but are not limited to, correspondence newsletters and publications on the program. Dalkeith Diary Newsletter contains excerpts from staff and students about life, daily activities, and reflections. Other series include scrapbooks, yearbooks, and photographs that detail events, activities, and daily life of students participating in the program.

This series contains 25 photographs taken of the interior of the Normal School during the presidency of J. Q. Emery, 1889-1893. The exhibit was shown at the World’s Columbian Exposition in 1893 in Chicago.

The Winter Carnival festivities first appear in 1927, hosted by the Girls Athletic Association. Winter Carnival was an on and off again tradition until about 1945 when it became an annual tradition. As the tradition grew the Student Senate took over the planning of the week-long festivities. Events would be hosted or sponsored by student organizations.
Outdoor activities included broomball, skiing, snow or ice sculptures, and ice skating. Indoor events included attending athletic games, dance and indoor carnival games, and other competitions. A royal court would be nominated and a King and Queen of the winter carnival crowned. Records include the schedule of activities and events, along with the rules and regulations.
The bulk of this collection is covered between 1970 -1999 and consists of photographs, that include candidates and winners of Winter Carnival King and Queen, winter activities such as skiing, sledding, ice and snow sculptures, contests, and other activities.

The Dean of Students was responsible for overseeing all aspects of student life on campus. Actives and services include, but are not limited to Counseling, Faculty advising, Testing services, orientation, hosting workshops and clinics, Health and physical welfare, job placement after graduation, student employment, administering financial aid, Student Government, and other student organizations, Housing, Dining, and extra-curricular activities. The West Central Wisconsin Consortium (WCWC), established in the early 1980s, it was an educational partnership focused on enhancing academic and professional opportunities for students in the region, particularly for minority and disadvantaged individuals. It promoted collaboration among secondary education institutions to improve access to education, such as initiatives like the annual American Minority Student Leadership Conference, with the aim to foster leadership skills and retention strategies. The consortium proposed new academic programs to meet evolving student and workforce needs. Committed to diversity and inclusion, the WCWC has also emphasized competency-based education and the integration of diverse curricula.

The West Central Wisconsin Consortium Collection includes program proposals for academic majors and minors, annual reports summarizing activities and outcomes, and materials from conferences. Additionally, the collection features policy and planning documents outlining the consortium's goals, reports on minority retention efforts, and information on collaborative educational initiatives such as competency-based education and international programs. These materials include but are not limited to meeting minutes, administrative paperwork, financial documents, and brochures.

The Veterans Club or "Vets Club" was a student organization at the University of Wisconsin River Falls. It was a social and service organization for the benefit of student veterans. This collection includes a ledger with member names and fees due for the quarter, orientation books for members, photographs, and other ephemera materials.

This artificial collection includes ephemeral materials relating to the Univerisity of Wisconsin River Falls campus. There are four series in this collection; Campus Buildings and Grounds, Campus Departments, Student organizations and clubs, and topical files. Folders are then arranged alphabetically by subject or topic.

The records in this series span the tenure of three presidencies/chancellors, and an interim president. Most of the records in this series cover Jesse H. Ames in 1917 through the tenure of George R. Field in 1985. Some records also predate the Ames presidency. Sub-series and folder contents will overlap presidents/chancellors.

The arrangement and sub-series designations are intended to reflect the general organizational structure of the College/University. Up to the Kleinpell era, the president was highly involved with nearly every aspect of the institution. The president had many direct reports, requiring him to be directly involved in many decision-making roles. Records in this series, generally concern topics such as accreditation, general policy issues, funding, new courses, organization, plans for expansion, staffing, and other administrative affairs. The files contain copies of correspondence, reports, and background materials, either created by the president or sent to them by other offices or departments. The files also contain agendas, minutes, and supporting materials from departmental, college, school, and ad hoc committees.

This series contains the operating budget for the University of Wisconsin System as determined by the Board of Regents. They are also known as the “red book.” Current UW budget information can also be found online. Most of this series consists of volumes, others are on microfiche and CDs.

This is an artificial series, constructed from several different sources, containing materials related to the University Theatre including playbills and other items from individual productions; photographs of personnel and productions; and financial records of the drama account which is the source of funds for the University Theatre. This series contains the undergraduate class schedules for the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Schedules include program requirements; course offerings and descriptions; and admission, registration and fee information.

Thursday Reflections was a faculty lecture series hosted by a student and faculty member presented on Thursday afternoons throughout the school year. Lectures were held in the television studio before a live audience and recorded for television.

This collection included 10 VHS tapes that were converted to MP4.

The Student Voice is a student-run newspaper at the University of Wisconsin River Falls. Beginning in 1916, as a weekly publication, was used to inform the campus community of events, and happening around campus. The publication includes local business advertisements and articles on local and national news.

Founded in 1918, originally named the “N” Club for “Normal”, was later renamed The “R” Club in 1923. Its mission was to promote the best interest of the school and to develop a spirit of cooperation and goodwill between the faculty, students, and the “R” Club (1937 constitution). In 1975, women were integrated into the “R” Club. Today The “R” Club is active in fundraising efforts for the UWRF Athletics program.
This collection contains 3 volumes of ledgers that contain the club information, including but not limited to, advisors, officers, member list, dues and fees, meeting minutes, oath, constitution, and by-laws. This collection also contains a brief compiled history of the “R” Club and lists of female award winners.

The Meletean is the yearbook of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. It was first published in 1912 and it was last published in 1969. It resumed publication briefly from 1991 to 1992.

The 10% or Ten Percent Society was a student-run organization at the University of Wisconsin - River Falls, formed in 1991. The mission of the organization was to provide a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for students, encourage awareness about Gay and Lesbian issues and provide social opportunities for members. Membership in the organization was open to all, regardless of sexual orientation.

This collection consists of records from the Ten Percent Society Committee for the years 1990-2000. These records include but are not limited to; membership lists, correspondence concerning the organization's activities, constitution and by-laws, event pamphlets and flyers, campus climate surveys, news articles, and personal letters to the organization's president, Mandy Fox.

Since its founding in 1874, Teacher Education has been a significant focus of the University of Wisconsin River Falls. The College of Education was formed in 1971. In 1997 the College was reorganized into the College of Education and Graduate Studies, where Teacher Education was a department within the College. Another reorganization in 2001, established the College of Education and Professional Studies.

This collection contains the administrative and curriculum development records of the Teacher Education Department (TED) at UW River Falls. The bulk of this collection contains department meeting materials and program assessments. This collection also contains some records of the College of Education and Graduate Studies

This series contains the summer session bulletins for the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

The Student, Staff, and Faculty Directories include contact information for campus departments, students, faculty, and staff. The directories also include ads for local businesses in the River Falls area. Student Directories from1919-1950 were compiled by students on the Meletean Staff. In 1963 the Sigma Tau Epsilon Fraternity took over the responsibility of creating and distributing the directory. Followed again by Theta Chi from 1968-1980. In 1980 the River Falls Centrex System was responsible for a complete university directory, with the name changing from Student and Faculty directory to Campus Directory in 2002. Printing of a campus directory ceased in 2013.

The Student Voice is a student-run newspaper that was published on a weekly basis throughout the academic year.This collection consists of daily supplemental editions to the regular publication.

Agitation for student government began in the early 1930s on the River Falls campus. As envisioned by the students, the Student Senate would be a council of class officers and faculty advisors. This organization would be concerned with assembly programs, Homecoming, and other activities. The constitution of the Student Senate was adopted on May 20, 1937, by a vote of 386-5. The main purpose of the Senate is to give students a voice in the administrative decisions concerning the University. The Senate also coordinates and allocates funds for various student activities and organizations.

This series consists of constitutions and by-laws; handbooks; minute books; publicity materials; and other items relating to small student organizations on the University of Wisconsin- River Falls campus that don’t have enough material to make their own series.

This is an artificial collection of various donated materials from Alumn, accumulated during their time as a student at UW-River Falls. Materials in this collection document student life and activities during the students academic career.

Record types vary between halls. The Newsletters, all published from 2000-2003 for each hall were created and distributed by the Leadership Center in Hagestad Student Center. The meeting minutes and other documents were created by each hall's council documenting activities and initiatives for the year as well as member and hall rosters. The photographs in this series are mainly of groups of students in the hall council or resident assistants.

This series contains student handbooks for the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Handbooks contain information for students such as university policies, calendars, and social events on campus. Early handbooks (1917-1919) were published by the Young Men and Women's Christian Association and include suggestions for avoiding immoral temptations during college life. Special handbooks were compiled for female students offering guidelines regarding appropriate dress on campus, ladylike behavior, and residence hall curfews (1960's).

This series deals with federal aid programs for students at River Falls. Of particular interest are documents relating to the Civil Works Administration, National Youth Administration, and other New Deal programs from the Great Depression as well as rehabilitation programs for student veterans in the years following World War I.

This collection consists of records for the classes of 1916, 1920, 1959, 1960, 1961. This includes homecoming arrangements and a 5-year reunion for the Class of 1916, journal records, 5-year, and 50-year reunion info for the Class of 1920, minutes made by the class officers and a class list for the Class of 1959, A records book, journal, and freshman activities list for Class of 1961, as well as notes and a class list for the Class of 1962.

The River Falls Normal School was designated a training site for the Student Army Training Corps in September 1918. The Corps was a government training mechanism for training students for the Army prior to officers' training schools or technical schools.

This collection consists mainly of form letters from the War Department concerning S.A.T.C. programs, contracts, and policies. Also includes vouchers, student record cards from Fort Sheridan, IL, and R.F.S.N.S. Homecoming and Memorial Day program with S.A.T.C. roster, June 1919, and photographs.

Correspondence concerning new building construction, maintenance, and remodeling of the existing physical plant and fire and insurance inspections.

The St. Croix Valley Summer Theatre began operation in 1966 as the Falcon Summer Theatre. The organization is independent of but operates in cooperation with the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

`The Sports Information Office is a branch of the Assistant Chancellor's office in charge of public relations for the various interscholastic sports at UWRF. The office also keeps much of the information regarding the teams, games, coaches, and related materials. This series contains news clippings, program booklets, statistical information, and miscellaneous team rosters. See the online Collection Inventory for more detailed information.

This is an artificial series created from Speech Department materials, John Oostendorp materials, and other sources, containing a variety of departmental correspondence; class records; proposal and workshop materials; budget information; annual reports, and other miscellaneous materials Speech Department.

The Soviet Seminar consists of studying in the Soviet Union for university credit. The program was begun in 1969. Dr. Stephen Feinstein of the History Department has been an active coordinator with the program. The series includes an information booklet, publicity/promotional materials, photos and a few tapes of seminars.

The Social Science Department, which existed until the academic year 1965/66, was the predecessor of the departments of Economics and Business Administration, Geography, History, Political Science, and Sociology. During the period covered by this series, the chairmen of the department were Drs. Walker D. Wyman (until mid-1962), Charles J. Graham (1962-1963), and Edward N. Peterson (1963-1965/6). When the department was broken up, Dr. Peterson became chairman of the History Department.

This series is a composite, containing files on Dr. Wyman, Graham, Peterson, and James T. King of the History faculty. These materials were received in several accessions; many of the folder headings were created at the time of archival processing. Particularly significant materials are found in the Charles J. Graham correspondence folders. Valuable Materials for institutional history are also found und the heading "Social Science Department/Division," "Faculty Council," and "Graduate Program and Committee." See especially the 11-page report, The Development of the Department of Social Science (December 1964), under the heading "Social Science Department/Division."

Senior Yearbooks of the College of Agriculture contain photographs, birthdates, height, major, credits earned, and other statistics regarding College of Agriculture graduates. The yearbook was not published in 1980.
