Letters received by Jonah Todd of Prescott, Wisconsin, including four from a cousin, John A. Lockwood, in Ohio; one Civil War letter from a friend, E. C. Cleveland who was serving with Co. A, 17th Regiment Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, at Holly Springs, Mississippi; and one addressed to a William James Gibbs.

Inscriptions copied by Judy Schultz in 1993 from tombstones in Sacred Heart Cemetery, located on County Highway H in Burnett County, Wis. Information dates 1850-1993 and includes the names of the interred; birth and death dates; rank, service branch, unit, and war (for veterans); and notes on special markings or decorations. There is also a name index.

Treasurer's records (1951-1953) showing receipts and disbursements indicating the person paid or paying, amount, date, and purpose; and teacher registers (1888-1892 and 1957-1967) indicating names of teachers and students, attendance record, remarks concerning the promotion and progress of students, and a register of visitors.

Correspondence, subscription lists, and papers of Nils J. Larsen, Polk County chairman of the United War Work Fund, a drive conducted nationally under U.S. government sanction to raise funds for charitable work among the American Expeditionary Force in France.

Transcripts of interviews primarily concerning the history of Wisconsin's St. Croix Valley conducted with residents of the area. Initially gathered in a federally funded project directed by Patrick B. Nolan of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Department of History, the project was later funded by the Area Research Center and the History Department directly. Interviews concern pioneer farming, railroading, steamboating, logging, newspapers, early medicine, and early education as well as contemporary politics, academic affairs, environmental issues, war experiences, and other topics. A few interviews concern topics other than area history.

Photographs, negatives, and slides, were primarily taken by Photography Services, yearbook staff, student newspaper, and a variety of other sources. The images, most in black and white, document the administration, student and faculty activities, departments, organizations, student life, athletics, buildings, construction, campus events and visitors, and aerial views of campus.

This is an artificial series, constructed from several different sources, containing materials related to the University Theatre including playbills and other items from individual productions; photographs of personnel and productions; and financial records of the drama account which is the source of funds for the University Theatre. This series contains the operating budget for the University of Wisconsin System as determined by the Board of Regents. They are also known as the “red book.” Current UW budget information can also be found online. Most of this series consists of volumes, others are on microfiche and CDs.

The records in this series span the tenure of three presidencies/chancellors, and an interim president. Most of the records in this series cover Jesse H. Ames in 1917 through the tenure of George R. Field in 1985. Some records also predate the Ames presidency. Sub-series and folder contents will overlap presidents/chancellors.

The arrangement and sub-series designations are intended to reflect the general organizational structure of the College/University. Up to the Kleinpell era, the president was highly involved with nearly every aspect of the institution. The president had many direct reports, requiring him to be directly involved in many decision-making roles. Records in this series, generally concern topics such as accreditation, general policy issues, funding, new courses, organization, plans for expansion, staffing, and other administrative affairs. The files contain copies of correspondence, reports, and background materials, either created by the president or sent to them by other offices or departments. The files also contain agendas, minutes, and supporting materials from departmental, college, school, and ad hoc committees.
