      General note

Christian Philip Junkman (November 2, 1858-September 14, 1900) was born in Indiana, son of Deborah Anne (nee Showers) and William M. Junkman, the fourth of 8 children. Although the family purchased land in Ellsworth, Pierce County, Wisconsin in 1855, they did not appear to move there until between 1860-1862. Anna Emma Cope (May 3, 1861-August 2, 1914) was born in Staffordshire, England to Mary Elizabeth (nee Beckett) and Anthony Cope. Anna, along with her parents and four siblings emigrated to the U.S., in 1871, and were in Pierce County soon thereafter, where they settled in the village of Ellsworth. Anna attended the River Falls Normal School, and later worked as a teacher. During one such teaching position, Anna boarded with the Junkman family, where she was first introduced to Christian Junkman.
Anna and Christian were married in Ellsworth on April 9th, 1884. Initially living on the Junkman family farm, they moved into a home built by Christian soon thereafter. The Junkman's had 2 children: Glen Perry Junkman (February 17, 1885-October 15, 1973) and Estella Lillian Junkman (October 21, 1886-September 1, 1970). Christian worked as a janitor for the Ellsworth public schools. He died at the age of 43 from inflammation of the bowels. Anna died at the age of 52 from a ruptured appendix and is buried alongside her husband at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ellsworth. Biographical information taken from Jungmann, Youngman, Junkman family : including Daniel, Christian, William, and Christian P. Junkman by Rebecca J. Martin and the genealogical materials in the collection.
