Scope and content
Burnett County probate volumes that document records regarding estate, administration, executorship, wills, sales, and heirship. Executors and wills volumes include similar material to probate and administration: last wills and testaments, documents regarding administration, appraisal and inventory of real estate, and claims. The general inventory volume includes inventory and appraisal of real estate and oaths of appraisers.
System of arrangement
Volumes are generally arranged chronologically, with the exception of archives volumes 13 and 14, which are arranged by type of document. Indexes, if present, are located at the beginning of each volume.

RESTRICTED: This series contains information that is restricted under Wisconsin Statutes. Archives volume 1 is subject to Wis. Stats. 51.30 and 55.22, which refer to mental health and protective placement records, respectively. Archives volumes 9 and 10 are subject to Wis. Stats. 48.93(1d) and 54.75, which refer to adoption and guardianship records, respectively. Researchers wishing to use these materials should contact the reference archivist.
