Date from postmark: Aug 21, 1905; mailed from St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, and rec'd in Madison, Wisconsin, on Aug 22, 1905; green 1¢ Benjamin Franklin stamp (design A115). Addressed to Miss Pollie Scampton, 919 W. Johnson St., Madison, Wisconsin; message on the recto: "St. Croix, Wisconsin Sunday Aug. 20. Dear Pollie. You may be surprised to see I am in Wisconsin We came to Taylor Falls last night & this place is just around the river. The rapids are beautiful. We expect to go thru the Park & take a boat to see the Dalles. It reminds me of our trip several yrs. ago. I expect to go home next wek. Mother is along and stands the trip fine. We have a lovely place to stay here. Am going back to Minnesota tonight. Love from all, [smeared name]."
