George Field President/Chancellor, 1968-1985. George R. Field was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin, in 1929. He completed a bachelor’s degree in geography from Carleton College, a master’s in educational administration from the University of Colorado, and a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. From 1951-1953, he served in the U.S. Army. Field taught junior high and served as a school principal before entering higher education administration at the University of Wisconsin. He served in many capacities, the last His last position there was Vice President for University Development and State Relations for the state university system. Falls Theater

The Falls Theatre was constructed in 1927 as a purpose-built motion picture theater in River Falls, Wisconsin. Ownership transferred to Stan McCulloch in 1955, beginning a period of family stewardship that continued after his death in 2002. Today, the theater remains under the management of subsequent generations of the McCulloch family and continues to operate as one of the community's longstanding entertainment venues.
