The letter writer says he lived in the Chelsea area on New York City, circa 1847, and his family leased land from Moore.

Student Army Training Corps Correspondence, 1918-1919.

The River Falls Normal School was designated a training site for the Student Army Training Corps in September 1918. The Corps was a government training mechanism for training students for the Army prior to officers' training schools or technical schools.

This collection consists mainly of form letters from the War Department concerning S.A.T.C. programs, contracts, and policies. Also includes vouchers, student record cards from Fort Sheridan, IL, and R.F.S.N.S. Homecoming and Memorial Day program with S.A.T.C. roster, June 1919, and photographs.

This series contains student handbooks for the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Handbooks contain information for students such as university policies, calendars, and social events on campus. Early handbooks (1917-1919) were published by the Young Men and Women's Christian Association and include suggestions for avoiding immoral temptations during college life. Special handbooks were compiled for female students offering guidelines regarding appropriate dress on campus, ladylike behavior, and residence hall curfews (1960's).

Record types vary between halls. The Newsletters, all published from 2000-2003 for each hall were created and distributed by the Leadership Center in Hagestad Student Center. The meeting minutes and other documents were created by each hall's council documenting activities and initiatives for the year as well as member and hall rosters. The photographs in this series are mainly of groups of students in the hall council or resident assistants.

Student Senate records, 1938-2013.

Agitation for student government began in the early 1930s on the River Falls campus. As envisioned by the students, the Student Senate would be a council of class officers and faculty advisors. This organization would be concerned with assembly programs, Homecoming, and other activities. The constitution of the Student Senate was adopted on May 20, 1937, by a vote of 386-5. The main purpose of the Senate is to give students a voice in the administrative decisions concerning the University. The Senate also coordinates and allocates funds for various student activities and organizations.

Student, Staff and Faculty Directories, 1919-2013.

The Student, Staff, and Faculty Directories include contact information for campus departments, students, faculty, and staff. The directories also include ads for local businesses in the River Falls area. Student Directories from1919-1950 were compiled by students on the Meletean Staff. In 1963 the Sigma Tau Epsilon Fraternity took over the responsibility of creating and distributing the directory. Followed again by Theta Chi from 1968-1980. In 1980 the River Falls Centrex System was responsible for a complete university directory, with the name changing from Student and Faculty directory to Campus Directory in 2002. Printing of a campus directory ceased in 2013.

Swensen Sundial Project Files, 1993-1995.

In 1973, Dean Richard Swensen asked the UWRF Physics Department to design a large sundial to be constructed on the south most wall of the Fine Arts building. Professors Campbell and Shepard undertook the necessary calculations for the design of a Sundial that will be accurate to one minute of time. A local Artist submitted a design, which proved to be too costly, and the sundial was never completed. In 1993, Dean Prochnow proposed reviving the project to commemorate the service of Richard Swenson to the University. Since Dr. Campbell had already retired, the task of reviving the calculations and design fell to Dr. Shepard. In April 1993, he presented a tentative design, which was accepted, and Gene Olson of Elk River, Minnesota took the commission of constructing the sundial.

This collection consists of, but is not limited to, design plans and building instructions, financial donations, examples of materials used.

Since its founding in 1874, Teacher Education has been a significant focus of the University of Wisconsin River Falls. The College of Education was formed in 1971. In 1997 the College was reorganized into the College of Education and Graduate Studies, where Teacher Education was a department within the College. Another reorganization in 2001, established the College of Education and Professional Studies.

This collection contains the administrative and curriculum development records of the Teacher Education Department (TED) at UW River Falls. The bulk of this collection contains department meeting materials and program assessments. This collection also contains some records of the College of Education and Graduate Studies

The 10% or Ten Percent Society was a student-run organization at the University of Wisconsin - River Falls, formed in 1991. The mission of the organization was to provide a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for students, encourage awareness about Gay and Lesbian issues and provide social opportunities for members. Membership in the organization was open to all, regardless of sexual orientation.

This collection consists of records from the Ten Percent Society Committee for the years 1990-2000. These records include but are not limited to; membership lists, correspondence concerning the organization's activities, constitution and by-laws, event pamphlets and flyers, campus climate surveys, news articles, and personal letters to the organization's president, Mandy Fox.

An oral history project undertaken by members of the Wisconsin Extension Homemakers Council as a celebration of the organization's 50th anniversary, focusing on the life stories of Wisconsin homemakers and on the influence of the WEHC in their lives. Included are tape-recorded interviews, transcripts, a published guide to the project, a copy of "Taste Wisconsin History" (a cookbook derived from the project), photographs, a copy of a slide/tape show with accompanying script, publicity materials, and discussion guide, and a script for a play based on the oral histories.
Copies of everything in the collection are available in Madison in accession M90-325. A duplicate set of transcripts has been divided according to the counties of residence of the interviewees and is housed at the appropriate area research centers. Duplicate copies of the slide/tape show were sent to the River Falls, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Stevens Point, and Northland area research centers and a copy of the cookbook and the published guide was sent to each area research center. (The duplicate transcripts still are considered part of this collection; the slide/tape show copies and the publications are considered as given to the centers for integration into their campus resources as best suits each campus.)

Founded in 1918, originally named the “N” Club for “Normal”, was later renamed The “R” Club in 1923. Its mission was to promote the best interest of the school and to develop a spirit of cooperation and goodwill between the faculty, students, and the “R” Club (1937 constitution). In 1975, women were integrated into the “R” Club. Today The “R” Club is active in fundraising efforts for the UWRF Athletics program.
This collection contains 3 volumes of ledgers that contain the club information, including but not limited to, advisors, officers, member list, dues and fees, meeting minutes, oath, constitution, and by-laws. This collection also contains a brief compiled history of the “R” Club and lists of female award winners.
