Alumni Bulletin - Falcon Features, 1935-Present

Beginning in 1934, the River Falls Alumnus was published and distributed to the graduates of the River Falls State Teachers College. The Alumni Bulletin was first compiled by the Public Relations committee in conjunction with the regular college bulletin published by the Board of Regents and ran until about 1958. In the Spring of 1952, the River Falls Foundation began publishing, the alumni newsletter, Falcon Features which continues to run today. Alumni newsletters were intended to keep alumni informed with updates to the campus physical plant, faculty, and curriculum. It also serves as a directory for alumni to keep in touch, including personal notices such as marriages, deaths, and career changes.

The “Faculty Bulletin”, first issued by the River Falls State Teachers College administration in the fall of 1946, was designed as a communicative vehicle for faculty and administration, and included announcements and information emanating from both sources. They were published periodically throughout the school year, providing information concerning new staff and assignment changes, activity calendars, and changes in programs and school services. The “Bulletin” was discontinued during the 1973/74 school year in favor of a new publication, “This Week”.

The Student Support Services (SSS) at UW River-Falls is part of the TRIO program. This program offers educational outreach and enrichment opportunities to maximize academic success at the college level. Program participants receive access to one-on-one academic coaching, leadership and community service opportunities, career/graduate school advising, and opportunities to participate in social/cultural activities, financial literacy, and assistance with accessing campus services.
