Real picture postcard of the local branch of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. It shows the three story brick building with signature elk bust above the door and elk statues guarding the stares. The plaque at the top of the building reads BPOE, but the individual lodge number uncertain. This branch of the Elks is no longer standing. The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE; also often known as the Elks Lodge or simply The Elks) is an American fraternal order and social club founded in 1868. It is one of the leading fraternal orders in the U.S., claiming nearly one million members.
