Greetings From Centuria, Wisconsin

Real-photo postcard with image of the Devil's Chair rock formation in the Dalles area along the St. Croix River near St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. A man is standing on the seat of the chair. Date from message: 30 Nov. 1937; postcard not mailed, but was likely sent sent to Emma Mader, Höttingerau No. 97, Innsbruck, Tirol, Germany [today that is Austria]. Message: Original is in German; English translation: "Centuria, Wisconsin, 30 Nov. 1937. L.J., E.A.E., Your last letter arrived here on the 17th of November and we have already answered it. As you can see, I do not have much to say.2 I hope you are all in good health, as are we. We have had a mild cold wave come down from Canada which has resulted for several days in temperatures around 5 degrees Fahrenheit, although nice and sunny. We have had hardly any snow. I have read that there has been civil unrest in Innsbruck and all over Austria, with fierce fïghting between police and insurrectionists. Hopefully it was all exaggerated. On the other side of this card is a picture of the St. Croix River, which is about a quarter mile from here by car. Well, the postal train should be arriving, so I had better stop. Many heartfelt greetings to all of you, Leo, Ida, Kenneth [Mader]."
