Cases relate to felony criminal offenses such as murder, assault and battery, adultery, larceny, fornication, rape, illegal liquor sales, vandalism, and gambling. Circuit Court ranges from approximately 1927-1948. County Court cases range from approximately 1895-1943.

This series contains items that are from alumni and faculty of UW-River Falls. Photographs, negatives, and slides, were primarily taken by Photography Services, yearbook staff, student newspaper, and a variety of other sources. The images, most in black and white, document the administration, student and faculty activities, departments, organizations, student life, athletics, buildings, construction, campus events and visitors, and aerial views of campus.

Miscellaneous items concerning Vanasse: an article by him on the history of northeastern Pierce County, Wisconsin; a copy of a booklet written by him on Lake Superior agate; notes recording an interview with him by E. N. Peterson (these three in River Falls SC 125); a time book, 1892-1894, 1896-1899, of the Vanasse sawmill, Town of Gilman, Pierce County; historical writings by Vanasse concerning the Spring Valley area; and essays dealing with the iron ore industry in Spring Valley.

Recollections by Alvstad of her family's emigration in 1889 from N. Aurdal, Valdres, Norway; the sinking of their ship, the SS Denmark and the rescue by the SS Missouri; their arrival in Philadelphia; their settlement in Gilman Township, Pierce County, Wisconsin; and her early years there as her family established a farm home.

`The Sports Information Office is a branch of the Assistant Chancellor's office in charge of public relations for the various interscholastic sports at UWRF. The office also keeps much of the information regarding the teams, games, coaches, and related materials. This series contains materials related to the Hagestad Union Board (HUB) including calendars; budgets; circular letters; event information; and policy documents. Hagestad Union Board sponsors such student activities as films, May Daze, Game Room activities, and Superstars. Additions to this collection in 1994 include Concerts and Lectures Subject Files with information on HUB-sponsored speakers who came to the university in 1984-1990.

This series contains the undergraduate class schedules for the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Schedules include program requirements; course offerings and descriptions; and admission, registration and fee information.

This series contains 25 photographs taken of the interior of the Normal School during the presidency of J. Q. Emery, 1889-1893. The exhibit was shown at the World’s Columbian Exposition in 1893 in Chicago.

Thursday Reflections was a faculty lecture series hosted by a student and faculty member presented on Thursday afternoons throughout the school year. Lectures were held in the television studio before a live audience and recorded for television.

This collection included 10 VHS tapes that were converted to MP4.

These records are from the Pigeon Lake Field Station, operated by the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. The collection contains administrative records from 1959 through 1997. Budget reports, building projects, correspondence, food service, and instructor information are included in this collection. Additionally, there are written histories of Pigeon Lake, summer class brochures, photographs, slides, programming brochures, and policy information.

Also included in the collection are early records from Clam Lake Field Station, which mainly encompass the years 1960 through 1975.

This collection is organized into six different sub-series: Academic, Administrative, Financial, Personnel, Planning, and Promotional.
The academic records include course schedules, programs for courses, and undergrad proposals. The administrative record series documents activities related to the organization of courses and research at the research stations, including correspondence, annual reports, and policy renewals. The financial records detail the funding of the field research stations, including budgets, leases, and operational purchases. The personnel series includes staffing information on the various programs held at Pigeon Lake and Clam Lake; documents include staff appointments and rosters. The planning series included any documents pertinent to the infrastructure and feedback given by students about the programs held. Records include, but are not limited to, maps, blueprints, and student surveys. Promotional materials include brochures, programs, flyers, and posters.

Military records and memoirs of Howard Christenson from Spring Valley (Wis.) who served during World War II as a pilot in the 17th Bomb Group of the 37th Squadron, U.S. Army Air Force; including documentation of his training, individual flights, promotions, transfers, reserve service, and awards.
Also included are his memoirs of his wartime experience as well as those of Thomas Alton, a close friend of Christenson's from the same combat group and a fellow Wisconsin native. Additionally, there are articles on the history of the plane Christenson flew, the B-26 Marauder, and the history of the 37th Squadron. Photos consist of Christenson's flight class at Rankin Aeronautical Academy and combat duty in the Mediterranean.

The records in this series span the tenure of three presidencies/chancellors, and an interim president. Most of the records in this series cover Jesse H. Ames in 1917 through the tenure of George R. Field in 1985. Some records also predate the Ames presidency. Sub-series and folder contents will overlap presidents/chancellors.

The arrangement and sub-series designations are intended to reflect the general organizational structure of the College/University. Up to the Kleinpell era, the president was highly involved with nearly every aspect of the institution. The president had many direct reports, requiring him to be directly involved in many decision-making roles. Records in this series, generally concern topics such as accreditation, general policy issues, funding, new courses, organization, plans for expansion, staffing, and other administrative affairs. The files contain copies of correspondence, reports, and background materials, either created by the president or sent to them by other offices or departments. The files also contain agendas, minutes, and supporting materials from departmental, college, school, and ad hoc committees.

Record of orders issued by the Court in civil cases. Entries show names of plaintiffs, defendants, and orders including findings of fact and conclusions of law, which are summaries of cases and decisions, show cause orders, stipulations, sheriffs reports of sale, dates of action, and name of judge. Types of cases include divorce, foreclosure, alimony, and property disputes.

Vol. 1 consists of 1850-1925; Vol. 2 consists of 1926-1972; and Vol. 3 consists of 1973-1979. Entries are alphabetical by defendant surname.

Criminal offenses may relate to cases such as murder, assault and battery, adultery, larceny, fornication, illegal liquor sales, vandalism, and gambling. Civil suits may involve monetary transactions, personal disputes, divorce cases, and other family court-related matters.

The Student Voice is a student-run newspaper at the University of Wisconsin River Falls. Beginning in 1916, as a weekly publication, was used to inform the campus community of events, and happening around campus. The publication includes local business advertisements and articles on local and national news.

Mainly letters (1943-1944) from mother, Karine, sent to John W. Stayberg, while serving in the military during World War II. Topics generally cover everyday activities happening around town and in life. Also includes correspondence from family and friends in the Hudson and Twin Cities metropolitan area and military colleagues, as well as any associated clippings sent with the correspondence. Also included is a short biography on Stayberg and reminiscences about how the archival collection came to be held by donor, Nancy Hawkinson (1999).

John "Bubbs" Winston Stayberg was born in Hudson, Wisconsin on May 8, 1923, the third and youngest child of Karine Marie (nee Jenson) and John Arnt Stayberg. John graduated from Hudson High School in 1941 and worked for Brown & Bigelow , a well-known printing company located in St. Paul, Minnesota, following high school. On June 30th, 1942, John W. Stayberg registered for the military draft, and was enlisted on February 4th, 1943. Stayberg served for 27 months, earning the rank of Corporal while serving with the 16th A. I. B. (Allied Intelligence Bureau), 13th Armored Division. He was reported missing in action April 30, 1945, and died from injuries sustained May 6, 1945 in Germany. Stayberg is buried at the Willow River Cemetery in Hudson, Wisconsin. [Biographical information taken from collection.]

Circuit court cases dealing with civil actions. Legal papers include complaints, summonses, affidavits, petitions, court orders and decrees. Cases #1-1479, 1888-1930, consist of civil actions and cases #1493-3789, 1931-1971 consist of divorce cases only.

Prior to 1954 the University of Wisconsin – River Falls only offered an art minor designed primarily for Elementary Education Majors. This was expanded in 1954 to a dual offering: Minors in both Art and Art Education. The Art major was instituted in 1960, also in a dual role. The major was offered in Art and in Art Education. The Art major required 48 credits and Art Education totaled 60 hours. The coursework differentiation was primarily related to extra coursework in teaching art to public school-age students for the Art Education majors. In 1964 a Broad Area Art Education major was introduced for majors who preferred not to seek a minor but to strengthen their major. This course required 21 credits beyond the 60 for the Art Education majors. The Liberal Arts major, as it came to be known, remained at 48 credits. In 1969 a Broad Area Liberal Arts Program began. This degree required a minimum of 69 credits in art and was designed to give the non-education-orientated student a stronger base for professional or graduate directions in art.

The original collection box 1 is an artificial collection of records, consisting of a brief, early history of the Journalism Department as well as activities of the faculty, promotional material includes posters, brochures, and correspondence related to conferences and events hosted by the journalism department. Photographs are included in this collection. The 2010 additions contain administrative documents for the department, including department and committee meeting minutes, correspondence, academic audits, academic scholarships that include donation letters and correspondence, and award recipients. The annual department banquet files consist of correspondence and planning documents, scholarship award winners, banquet program, and speaker notes. The University Film Society records include correspondence, planning documents for the academic year’s film series, letters to members, member lists, series programs, and some film posters. The 2019 addition is also artificially gathered from the UWRF Vertical File and is in box 3 of this collection. These mainly included Department and Student Newsletters. Also included is a CD of digital images from the 50th-anniversary banquet of the department, donated by Michael Norman.

This series includes a weekly publication by the Office of Auxiliary Services. It included activities and events that were held throughout the week. It served as a vehicle for news of interest to students, and the university community for information on events and services. The publication was originally called The Auxiliary Scene in the fall of 1975, after a few months it was retitled The Campus Scene. In 1978 it again changed names to Bed Board & More. There are no copies of the years 1985-1987, and only one edition for 1988.

Photographs created by Charles Francis Smith of houses and families in the vicinity of Elmwood, Wisconsin, circa 1887-1893. Also included are index cards with detailed descriptions for many, but not all, of the included images.

Statewide index to births recorded between 1852 and 1907. Shows name, date and county of birth for each registrant, and index reel and document number where the registration may be found. The index is in two parts. The first is arranged alphabetically by registrant's name, the second chronologically by date of birth. Incomplete entries are located at the beginning of each part. This index also includes entries for reels 1-3 of "Delayed Registrations of Births" (Series 2071).

Records relating to the settlement of deceased individuals' estates including inventories of real and personal property; reports and accounts of administrators or executors; statements of claims against estates; resale of real and/or personal property; warrants; contracts; sworn testimony; and similar records.

This collection is particularly strong in areas of the region directly surrounding River Falls, Wisconsin. Files of primarily criminal cases in Circuit Court including complaints, summonses, warrants, motions, appeals, judgments, and orders. Cases relate to criminal offenses such as murder, assault and battery, adultery, larceny, fornication, illegal liquor sales, vandalism, and gambling. The few civil suits involve monetary transactions and personal disputes including divorce. Criminal case files include #1-366, 468-839, 925, 1403, and 1441, roughly dated from 1866-1962 (bulk 1866-1930). Civil case files include #1-100 (circa 1866-?) and #5086, #7966, #8141-8171 (1916-1939).

Early reports include an annual overview of department activities and initiatives undertaken by Campus Security. These reports are published to compy with federal law, the Clery Act, which requires colleges and universities to disclose certain timely and annual information about campus crime and security policies. Incident statistics include; criminal offenses, such as theft, assault, drug, and alcohol use, and other complaints brought to the police and security officers. In 2014, incidents involving fires on campus were included.

County Clerk's record of lands sold at annual tax sales for the previous year's unpaid taxes. For each parcel of land sold, the record shows year of tax sale, certificate number, to whom certificate sold, land description and acreage, and amount for which sold. For redeemed lands, the record also shows by whom redeemed, date of redemption, amount for which redeemed, and paid. For lands on which tax deed was taken, the record shows to whom deeded and date of deed. A few entries show the name of the former "supposed owner" of the land sold.

Tax rolls showing name of property owner, land description, acreage, valuation of real and personal property, amounts of taxes, date and amount of payment, and by whom paid. Beginning in 1915, rolls are retained for every fifth year only.
