The West Central Wisconsin Consortium (WCWC), established in the early 1980s, it was an educational partnership focused on enhancing academic and professional opportunities for students in the region, particularly for minority and disadvantaged individuals. It promoted collaboration among secondary education institutions to improve access to education, such as initiatives like the annual American Minority Student Leadership Conference, with the aim to foster leadership skills and retention strategies. The consortium proposed new academic programs to meet evolving student and workforce needs. Committed to diversity and inclusion, the WCWC has also emphasized competency-based education and the integration of diverse curricula.

The West Central Wisconsin Consortium Collection includes program proposals for academic majors and minors, annual reports summarizing activities and outcomes, and materials from conferences. Additionally, the collection features policy and planning documents outlining the consortium's goals, reports on minority retention efforts, and information on collaborative educational initiatives such as competency-based education and international programs. These materials include but are not limited to meeting minutes, administrative paperwork, financial documents, and brochures.

Index to county cemeteries located in Burnett, Pierce, Polk, and St. Croix Counties. The St. Croix Valley Genealogical Society (SCVGS) completed an extensive project in the 1980s to inventory tombstones in local cemeteries. Transcriptions were made from tombstones for most of the cemeteries in the counties of Pierce, Polk, and St. Croix by the SCVGS over the course of this project. Burnett County cemeteries were indexed by a number of volunteers.

Sanborn fire insurance maps

The Sanborn Co. was founded in 1867 by D.A. Sanborn, to draw maps of the downtown districts of cities across the U.S. These maps could then be consulted by insurance companies if a building burned to research different characteristics about the business and the physical structure. The company stopped making the fire insurance maps in 1961, due to other sources being used to obtain the needed information. Today, they serve as a wonderful resource for tracing the growth of cities and tracking where businesses were located decades ago. We have these maps on microfilm for the entire state of Wisconsin. We also have copies of the actual maps in paper format for cities in our four-county area. The dates range from approximately the 1880s to the 1920s for our area. The maps were not issued regularly, so do not expect any pattern as to when the maps came out for various cities.

Thursday Reflections was a faculty lecture series hosted by a student and faculty member presented on Thursday afternoons throughout the school year. Lectures were held in the television studio before a live audience and recorded for television.

These records are from the Pigeon Lake Field Station, operated by the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. The collection contains administrative records from 1959 through 1997. Budget reports, building projects, correspondence, food service, and instructor information are included in this collection. Additionally, there are written histories of Pigeon Lake, summer class brochures, photographs, slides, programming brochures, and policy information.

Also included in the collection are early records from Clam Lake Field Station, which mainly encompass the years 1960 through 1975.

This collection is organized into six different sub-series: Academic, Administrative, Financial, Personnel, Planning, and Promotional.
The academic records include course schedules, programs for courses, and undergrad proposals. The administrative record series documents activities related to the organization of courses and research at the research stations, including correspondence, annual reports, and policy renewals. The financial records detail the funding of the field research stations, including budgets, leases, and operational purchases. The personnel series includes staffing information on the various programs held at Pigeon Lake and Clam Lake; documents include staff appointments and rosters. The planning series included any documents pertinent to the infrastructure and feedback given by students about the programs held. Records include, but are not limited to, maps, blueprints, and student surveys. Promotional materials include brochures, programs, flyers, and posters.

Howard B. Christenson. Papers 1942-2001.

Military records and memoirs of Howard Christenson from Spring Valley (Wis.) who served during World War II as a pilot in the 17th Bomb Group of the 37th Squadron, U.S. Army Air Force; including documentation of his training, individual flights, promotions, transfers, reserve service, and awards.
Also included are his memoirs of his wartime experience as well as those of Thomas Alton, a close friend of Christenson's from the same combat group and a fellow Wisconsin native. Additionally, there are articles on the history of the plane Christenson flew, the B-26 Marauder, and the history of the 37th Squadron. Photos consist of Christenson's flight class at Rankin Aeronautical Academy and combat duty in the Mediterranean.

The records in this series span the tenure of three presidencies/chancellors, and an interim president. Most of the records in this series cover Jesse H. Ames in 1917 through the tenure of George R. Field in 1985. Some records also predate the Ames presidency. Sub-series and folder contents will overlap presidents/chancellors.

The arrangement and sub-series designations are intended to reflect the general organizational structure of the College/University. Up to the Kleinpell era, the president was highly involved with nearly every aspect of the institution. The president had many direct reports, requiring him to be directly involved in many decision-making roles. Records in this series, generally concern topics such as accreditation, general policy issues, funding, new courses, organization, plans for expansion, staffing, and other administrative affairs. The files contain copies of correspondence, reports, and background materials, either created by the president or sent to them by other offices or departments. The files also contain agendas, minutes, and supporting materials from departmental, college, school, and ad hoc committees.

John W. Stayberg WWII military service correspondence

Mainly letters (1943-1944) from mother, Karine, sent to John W. Stayberg, while serving in the military during World War II. Topics generally cover everyday activities happening around town and in life. Also includes correspondence from family and friends in the Hudson and Twin Cities metropolitan area and military colleagues, as well as any associated clippings sent with the correspondence. Also included is a short biography on Stayberg and reminiscences about how the archival collection came to be held by donor, Nancy Hawkinson (1999).

John "Bubbs" Winston Stayberg was born in Hudson, Wisconsin on May 8, 1923, the third and youngest child of Karine Marie (nee Jenson) and John Arnt Stayberg. John graduated from Hudson High School in 1941 and worked for Brown & Bigelow , a well-known printing company located in St. Paul, Minnesota, following high school. On June 30th, 1942, John W. Stayberg registered for the military draft, and was enlisted on February 4th, 1943. Stayberg served for 27 months, earning the rank of Corporal while serving with the 16th A. I. B. (Allied Intelligence Bureau), 13th Armored Division. He was reported missing in action April 30, 1945, and died from injuries sustained May 6, 1945 in Germany. Stayberg is buried at the Willow River Cemetery in Hudson, Wisconsin. [Biographical information taken from collection.]

Prior to 1954 the University of Wisconsin – River Falls only offered an art minor designed primarily for Elementary Education Majors. This was expanded in 1954 to a dual offering: Minors in both Art and Art Education. The Art major was instituted in 1960, also in a dual role. The major was offered in Art and in Art Education. The Art major required 48 credits and Art Education totaled 60 hours. The coursework differentiation was primarily related to extra coursework in teaching art to public school-age students for the Art Education majors. In 1964 a Broad Area Art Education major was introduced for majors who preferred not to seek a minor but to strengthen their major. This course required 21 credits beyond the 60 for the Art Education majors. The Liberal Arts major, as it came to be known, remained at 48 credits. In 1969 a Broad Area Liberal Arts Program began. This degree required a minimum of 69 credits in art and was designed to give the non-education-orientated student a stronger base for professional or graduate directions in art.

The original collection box 1 is an artificial collection of records, consisting of a brief, early history of the Journalism Department as well as activities of the faculty, promotional material includes posters, brochures, and correspondence related to conferences and events hosted by the journalism department. Photographs are included in this collection. The 2010 additions contain administrative documents for the department, including department and committee meeting minutes, correspondence, academic audits, academic scholarships that include donation letters and correspondence, and award recipients. The annual department banquet files consist of correspondence and planning documents, scholarship award winners, banquet program, and speaker notes. The University Film Society records include correspondence, planning documents for the academic year’s film series, letters to members, member lists, series programs, and some film posters. The 2019 addition is also artificially gathered from the UWRF Vertical File and is in box 3 of this collection. These mainly included Department and Student Newsletters. Also included is a CD of digital images from the 50th-anniversary banquet of the department, donated by Michael Norman.

This series includes a weekly publication by the Office of Auxiliary Services. It included activities and events that were held throughout the week. It served as a vehicle for news of interest to students, and the university community for information on events and services. The publication was originally called The Auxiliary Scene in the fall of 1975, after a few months it was retitled The Campus Scene. In 1978 it again changed names to Bed Board & More. There are no copies of the years 1985-1987, and only one edition for 1988.
